How People Make Bronze Things:

     2. ) Good Pouring:

• Pour at the right heat (Pouring temperature). Let it cool right (Chvorinov’s rule, Metal shrinkage rates). Avoid hot tear prevention. Understand molten metal flow.

• 3.) Good Molds:

• Make molds strong (Mold compression strength). Let air out (Mold venting systems, Draft angle requirements). Make sure parts fit (Mold registration marks). Avoid holes (Defect prevention (porosity), Gas porosity prevention). Design the mold cavity design well, including sprues and risers and the gating system design. Think about mold undercuts. Use mold wash coatings if needed. Make sure the silicone rubber hardness is right. Consider flame retardant molds for safety. Check silicone mold lifespan and mold aging resistance. Understand metal-mold interaction.

• 4.) Finishing:

• Cut off extra metal (Degating and trimming). Make it smooth (Post-casting machining). Check for problems (Nondestructive testing, X-ray inspection, Microstructure analysis). Treat the metal if needed (Heat treatment of bronze, Stress relief annealing). Make it look nice (Patination techniques). Test how hard it is (Bronze hardness testing).
