We do not recommend silicone rubber only by hardness. A suitable RTV-2 silicone grade depends on the cure system, viscosity, tear strength, working time, mold size, casting material and demolding difficulty.

Common RTV-2 Silicone Problems We Can Help Diagnose
1. Silicone Does Not Cure
Possible causes: Wrong mixing ratio, poor mixing, low temperature, contaminated tools or platinum cure inhibition. What to send us: Photos, mixing ratio, room temperature, master material, cure system and whether the silicone cures normally in the mixing cup.
2. Too Many Bubbles

Can you recommend a silicone grade only by Shore hardness?
No. Shore hardness is important, but we also need to know your application, casting material, mold size, demolding difficulty, cure system and expected mold life.
Why does platinum cure silicone sometimes not cure?
Platinum cure silicone may be inhibited by sulfur, amines, some 3D printing resins, organotin residues, latex gloves, certain coatings or contaminated tools. A small surface test is recommended before full mold making.
Which RTV-2 silicone is better for concrete molds?
Concrete molds usually require good tear strength, suitable hardness and mold support. The best grade depends on mold size, texture depth, demolding difficulty and expected mold life.
